Next Gen Aakash Tab a.k.a. Aakash 3 might release with SIM card slot, web camera and more advanced features as reported by the TimesofIndia. Aakash 2 was released couple of months ago with some standard features but SIM card slot was missing. Although SIM card slot in not an integrated part of a tablet still it’s better to have one. You can use the tablet like a phone. First Aakash, Aakash 2 both have been super successful just because of attractive price tag. Indian central Govt.
Ministry is offering 50% subsidy on the product to help it reach students convincingly. One more important feature will be there in Aakash 3 that is audio notes. You can use the tablet as an alternative of text books. Plenty of more apps might be there. Currently IIT Mumbai is developing the blueprint of Aakash 3.

As per the report, 50 lakh units of Aakash 3 will be ordered in the next phase. The tender is yet to be rolled-out. Possibly, by the February manufacturers will be asked to submit quotations. Datawind is the primary choice as it’s the company behind Aakash and Aakash 2. Other companies might take the tender away as well.
According to Deepak B Pathak, Aakash 3 committee member from IIT Mumbai said to press “Our aim is to imbibe the usage of tablets in the education system and create an ecosystem for this. We have distributed Aakash tablets to 250 colleges across the country and asked them to come up with newer ways to use the device.” Aakash 3 will come with a faster processor and choice of operating system between Android and Linux.
More RAM and internal storage are also in the cards. SIM card slot will make the device a communication device. Use of USB dongles is always on. For school students Aakash 3 might get a price tag of Rs. 2236 while for college students slightly higher price tag is what the committee is looking at. Let’s see how things settle down.
