Do you cherish the desire of having an iPad? It’s quite obvious. We all know iPad is the best selling tablet. But droid lovers can’t purchase iPad as this runs iOS not Android. The solution? Yes, there is indeed. GooPhone, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer is working on a iPad like tablet that just looks like iPad from all possible angles. It’s none other than GooPad mini. The UI is not regular Android 1 JellyBean UI. The manufacturer have customized it in such a way that looks like original iOS UI.

GooPad Mini was announced long ago. But in last few months we were unaware of the manufacturing work. But today couple of spy images show GooPad mini is the manufacturing unit and the company has already developed prototype model.
You might have expected MediaTek MT6589 or Allwinner A31 in it. Unfortunately, it’s using MediaTek MT6577 dual core Cortex A9 processor. Dual sim card slot is there as well. Since the MTK6577 supports WCDMA 2100 in one SIM GooPad supports HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps.
Quite surprisingly the price of GooPad Mini is expected to be $99 which is close to Rs 5500 in Indian currency. Chinese companies are coming in Indian market in numbers. Before the release of this tablet the manufacturer might start selling their products in Indian market instead of working as OEM.

This is really dangerous. But we should not be too afraid of this unless we know the actual reason. Even Galaxy S3 explode couple of times. I am not comparing these manufacturers in anyway. Fake battery issue comes in to play here which is really annoying to me. Xiaomi is a well known brand now. They must take care of customer safety along with customer satisfaction. You mentioned the same in one of your previous comments. Hopefully, we will get more info in this regard soon.
Hi Mandip, I just started following your website since last week & I like it. I have 2 questions. 1st being that is Micromax a good brand? I have never bought an Indian brand mobile but recently have got tempted because of the interesting price points. What is your opinion about the Indian brands & how would you rate Micromax, Karbonn etc. (I mean the best one, 2nd best, …)
2nd question is which chinese brand you consider the best, 2nd best, 3rd best , so that I stick to those brands only. I could be wrong but I think Xiamo is the best

Thanks Satnam. Touch screen work even if the USB is on. In some handsets it does create sensitive issues. If it’s not serious I guess you can manage. But if you think it’s really makes your life difficult get it checked by Micromax service center. It’s in warranty period, you will not be asked any charge. Secondly, it’s difficult to call which is the best brand. Let them spread business in India. We will get user opinion here which is the best thing to judge quality of a brand. Huawei, ZTE and Lenovo are top brands no doubt about that. Currently these are global brands. Xiaomi, Gionee are also top brands. Umi, JiaYu, Zopo, Iocean are fairly new, I must not say anything about these brands so early.
Still i wud be happy wid 6577 SoC.. Dey cud do justice 2 dis tablet by giving it (1gb RAM,8gb ROM, Bluetooth v2.1 or later, Wifi 802.11, GPS, HD res,min 3000mAh) I knw im asking 2 much for dis price,bt aftrall dey r chinese dey cud do anythng(proved eg.X2) If Nexus7(8gb) cud produce Tegra3 at $149 den why nt..! This cud be game changer in tablet segment in Indian market..
Yes, you are right in the money once again. I think Bluetooth v3.0, Wi-Fi, A-GPS will be there as these comes with the MediaTek MT6577. RAM, ROM and battery are what they need to work on. HD resolution is nothing surprising nowadays.

I don’t know exact solution of this problem. There is no similarity as Galaxy S3 costs 30k while Xiaomi Mi-2 costs half of that. You can’t bring any conclusion. The safest way will be avoiding smartphones which is not at all possible especially after using it at least for once. We have to carry it in pocket whatever may be there future. Isn’t it like that?
