HCL Me V1 is a 7 inch tablet with GSM voice communication support. Nowadays the craze of tablets with SIM card slot is higher than ordinary tablets. Micromax Funbook Talk is very popular in market. You will find plenty of 7 inch tablets but tablet with SIM card slot is an added bonus. Powered by Android 4.0 ICS OS and 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor it runs plenty of applications at the same time. If you require an Android device that you will use for occasional calling, 3G connectivity, gaming, movie watching etc HCL Me V1 is the one you should buy. @Hari I am not saying that. HCL Me V1 is a tablet that supports calling. Micromax A110 is a smartphone that is more suitable for calling IMO. As I said earlier if you use tablet for occasional calling it’s fine. But frequent calling is better with a smartphone. Just consider it if you have a Tata or Reliance Walky without wire. You carry it instead of a mobile. How does that sound? You can do that but not convincingly. Similarly, tablet with calling is good but it’s even better in a mobile. You can’t hold a 7 inch thing easily in your palm. Now it’s up to you.

@Rohit yes HCL Me V1 support MS Office suite. Possibly, it lacks A-GPS. I need to confirm this. Rest of the features of HCL Me V1 tab are better than ViewPad 7.

You can’t use Whatsapp in normal way. You need to use bypass way to use it. It runs on Nexus 7. Hopefully, HCL Me V1 will run it too.

Possibly, Google Play app is not there. You need to download and install it first. It might cause some problems while installing the .apk. Once you install Google Play successfully there should not be any problem with apps.

Possibly Google Play is pre-installed in this tab. You can download any Office Suite for the rest. Only thing is to check whether Google Play is there or not. In case it’s missing do not go for it.

I have gone through several negative sides of this tablet in last few days. If you have not purchased it leave it. Give another tablet in this segment a try. Skype must work as a video chat client. I am not sure whether it supports Skype or not. There is no Google Play installed. It’s difficult to install Google Play in HCL tablets. Rest depends on you.

i have a hcl v1 tab since last 25 days. i took it to hcl service centre for some other fault. however , they rectified the fault and also installed google play also. the google play is working fine and i can install the apps from google play. I can not say this a great tab but is a good budget tab.

1) Does any of the Tab supports 3G connection, and if yes then what is the Upload and Download speed that it gives?
2) Does in any of the Tab Google play is pre-installed?
3) What all video and audio formats that gets supported in HCL Me? I have checked many other websites and there it is mentioned that it only supports Mp3 and Mp4 format. Is that correct? Then how we can play other format files?
4) As you have mentioned HCL Me RAM is 1GB DDR3, which is more than Micromax, so is it will support high-end games?
5) Does HCL Me supports browsers like Firefox or Chrome? Does it have a Adobe reader and flash player and will I be able to access my emails or edit them or send a new email from this HCL Tab?
6) What is the maximum battery backup time in HCL when using it for calling or playing high end games or just surfing net?

The advantage of HCL Me V1 is it has SIM card slot and 1 GB RAM. Acer Iconia B1 lacks SIM card slot and voice calling facility. Also the RAM is 512 MB but dual core processor is there. But the biggest disappointment of HCL V1 is it comes without Google Play installed. You may face tough challenges while installing it.

It can support games like fifa 12 asphalt 6 and 7.It is capable of doing so but before that you need google play to install these type of high definition games and i think its a really difficult task to install play store.You can get some tips on the site Ask Me Fast.

Yes, each tablet comes with some dongle lock. It’s basically a business strategy. I am not sure but Beetel might not be in the list of supported dongles. That’s why it’s not working. It’s not a generic problem of the tablet. Before purchasing a new dongle confirm it from HCL Care.

I am using HCL ME V1 from past one month I have not faced any issue till now its workign excellent and will suggest if some one is looking under 8K tab will all facility, Place of Google Play it has Mobile1 market which is having wide range of software which all are available on Google Play. I am using Reliance Dongle for using internate facility, I tried with Airtel3G sim card but due to poor customer care service am not able to get the correct settings for 3G.
If any one is using Internet via 3G sim card then please let me know how it is working? and what setting we need to do.
Default settings is not working, I am not gettign the speed, I check with Airtel customer care they said need to do the manual setting but poor service they have blocked customer care call for my number I am switching to Aircel will post the details if will be able to get the 3G simcard setting.

I have a HCL v1 Tablet purchased in 08 March 2013 But not Play Angry Bird app and Last some day’s came No Sound, Tablet battery charging poor responc and internet connection very very Slow. So For repairing purpose I have local HCL service center Bhopal approached. They told me that problem troubleshooting purpose required Some Day’s.

To get all features of a smartphone I’ll suggest you to go for either Celkon CT910 or Micromax Funbook P600 or Lava eTab Connect. These 3 tabs support 3G.
really apppreciate your patience in answering all question..seems like HCL is a crap tablet..was planning to get it ..now decided to throw the idea in bin..Thanx to your replies…This product is a waste to the company itself ..without essential features esp google play which is difficult to install.
