JiaYu Mobiles, a China based smartphone company is all set to release three new smartphones exclusively for the Indian market soon after the Chinese new year. In last few months we have seen couple of new China brands making foray in Indian market. Now JiaYu Mobiles approaches with three quality handsets as per as specs are concerned. Three new handsets are coming in three different price segment starting from Rs 3000.
The best one among the three is JiaYu AYU-G4 Quad-core or JiaYu G4. It’s a quad core beast. You would be surprised to see the price of the handset is going to be Rs 9000. That’s amazing! Couple of days ago Umi X2 with quad core processor and full HD display was announced for the Indian market. Now we have a new quad core droid at even lesser price. Karbonn Mobiles will also release Karbonn S1 Titanium at around Rs 11,000. But Rs 9000 price tag for a quad core smartphone with 2 GB RAM will surprise all the buyers.
JiaYU G4
I just received an email from the JiaYu Mobiles about the release of their smartphones. But full specs are not available as of now. One more thing I forgot to mention, JiaYu G4 sports a 13 MP rear camera and 3 MP front camera. It sports 4.7 inch OGS IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass coating on display surface to add extra layer of safety to the device. Like other low-cost smartphones it supports dual sim card support. Giant Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery is supplied with JiaYu G4. Exact talk time and backup are unknown but I assume it’s better than any other smartphones in less than 15k price segment. Hopefully, I will make a hands-on review of the product soon. Note: It’s not clear which variant of the handset is coming in India. Only thing that JiaYu confirmed is the price of the handset. It’s Rs 9000. Handset could be any of these two; standard or flagship. Rest of the specs are similar in both handset.

This is very tough time for both Micromax and Karbonn.
Umi X2 is better than Canvas HD in terms of 2 GB RAM 32 GB ROM, 1920 x 1080 full HD (441 ppi), 13 mp rear camera, and 2500 mAh battery. Where Micromax Canvas HD contains only 1 GB RAM 4 GB ROM, 1280×720 half HD (293.72 ppi), 8 mp rear camera, and 2100 mAh battery. Rest of the specifications are almost same. But, the main factor will be after sales service.
There are few more Chinese brands, ready to enter into Indian market within March-April 2013…

Now, Micromax and Karbonn felling the heat of the competition, that’s why Micromax already delayed the launch of Canvas HD by 20 days and said the reason behind such delay is some problem in logistic. HA HA HA….
Yes, it’s interesting to see the price Micromax is targeting now for Canvas HD. Umi X2 could be aggressively priced at ~Rs 12000. JiaYu G4 is coming at Rs 9000. Spec wise Micromax Canvas HD is not as impressive as Umi X2. Even if it’s JiaYu G4 standard edition Micromax should price Canvas HD at around Rs 11000 max. In after sales service Micromax is better than newcomers. But Rs 14000 or something close to that seems high now.
Hopefully, the new Chinese brands are targeting end of February or early March.

Ram is 1 GB android 4.1 is confirmed but the release date is in march around second week maybe on 15 also it is priced at around 238 $ in china so it will surely go way above 9 K in India yes it can be near that may be around 12 K

Release date is not declared. It’s mentioned after the Chinese new year. Actually, two different editions of JiaYu G4 are there; one is standard edition and other one is flagship edition. The difference between these models are battery size and RAM. But the one heading to Indian market will be priced Rs 9000, that’s confirmed. Now it’s interesting to see it’s the flagship edition or standard edition.

The JIAYU G-4 has two versions “1gb ram, 1800mah standard” and “2GB ram, 3000mah ultimate edition”. It looks Rs9000 is for standard edition, because ultimate edition costs about 240USD in china

In widget section (if you are using default launcher) you will a music icon you can place in home screen. There is no support for full HD 1080p video even if you use MX Player. The decoder works till 720p. Some Canvas 2 handsets even fail to play 720p properly. I don’t know the exact status of your handset but till 720p it should play. Hardware is compatible.

Rajat, you are absolutely right. We all must thank to the China based companies for this miracle. You can see till date all high-end smartphones from the big-guns are too costly. Performance wise Samsung Galaxy S3 is not comparable with Umi X2 or Micromax Canvas HD although all three handsets are quad core, plenty of RAM are there in the trio. In markets like India we can’t afford a 30-35k smartphone easily, exceptions are there but majority always look for tight budget. We can taste everything in amazingly low price. Possibly by the end of this month or in March four-five new Chinese brands are entering Indian market apart from Umi and JiaYu. It will be keen competition among all brands. It would not be surprising to see a dual core smartphone in say Rs 3000 by the next year. Micromax is feeling the heat and have started selling MMX A89 at Rs 5899.
Only thing we have to check out after sales service like availability of service centers, replacement warranty etc. In this area Indian companies like Micromax, Karbonn, Spice are still better.

Now i don’t think canvas HD will sell the way it could had if was launched at feb start..even doubt that it will be a successful modal like canvas2. Now..very fierce competition Micormax has to face on price front as it does not stand technically anywhere near to new Chinese models announced…

Last few days were quite surprising..Initially MMX HD was in my mind which later on changed to UMI1 then switched to UMI2 and now JIAYU also in the game..it would be tough for the users also to decide to choose !!!!! I think next 2 months are going to be exciting ….
Umi X2 still dominates followed by JiaYu G4, Umi X1, Micromax Canvas HD. I guess this is how things are moving currently. I am sure soon this will change as Xiaomi and four other vendors are coming by the end of this month or early March. You are right, it’s better to watch what is happening. Unless it’s urgent wait and see at least a month.
I dont know how good are the phones like UMI GIAYU etc., but on-paper they are looking amazing, it will gonna blow even samsung apple nd htc which are asking such a high price for their phones just because of their Goodwill (I am not comparing Apple with UMI/GIAYU, coz Apple is APPLE) . Even Micromax will face heat in this tough competition and we customers will also find too difficult that which one to buy..

@Gaurav please do not compare these handsets with Samsung, HTC. For example, you must have seen Quad core Krait Snapdragon S4 Pro is not at all comparable with MediaTek MT6589. Similarly Exynos 5 Octa is also not in the same level where MediaTek stands. We may not need the luxurious features these big-guns are offering. We can live without those high-end specs when we are getting same sort of features in one third price. I guess it’s better if you leave them off. What emerging Chinese vendors will do, they will destroy all Indian smartphone companies (?) in next few months unless they are able to transform them.

Currently, UMI X2 and JiaYu G4 are purely Chinese phone.
Chinese companies have realised that India is another market for budget smartphones. I guess I’ll wait till March end to see what’s going to happen in the Indian market. Other MNC’s also know this and that’s the reason they release only budget phones early and other flagship phones a few months later. This can change a whole lot of things in the Indian scene I guess.

Spec wise Umi X2 is better than JiaYu G4. But G4 might save you approx Rs 3000. Price of these handsets are yet to be officially announced. Irrespective of price Umi X2 is better choice.

No exact date of release as of now. Possible, after the Chinese New Year all these smartphones will be available in market. You should consider this for Chennai as well.
Somehow prefer Jiayu G4 over Umi X2 for one reason alone. One really weird reason. I just hate seeing the back button on Umi X2 to the left. We are so used to having the back button on the right.
