JiaYu G4 vs Umi X2: Now we see China based smartphone manufacturers are making their way to Indian market. Zopo started the proceedings last year. In this year JiaYu and Umi are making their way. Soon more companies will launch their products in Indian market. It virtually kills the competition among the Indian manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn, Spice etc.
If JiaYu releases a quad core smartphone and provides 3 or say 6 months replacement warranty who will be interested in Karbonn S1 Titanium. Similarly, if the flagship model of JiaYu G4 with 2 GB RAM, 3000 mAh battery or Umi X2 is launched in market at around Rs 12000 it will kill Micromax Canvas HD.

Now the only reason to buy a Micromax or Karbonn is after sales service. I am not too sure about the after sales plan of these companies but there must be something for the buyers. I am sure when these companies are emerging they have long term business plans. To see the rest we have to wait till the end of this month-

JiaYu G4 vs Umi X2: Final Words
Well, in this post I am not concluding anything as most of the specs are unknown. We have to wait till the launch. But one thing I can say, both these smartphones will equip some out of the box specs especially if you consider the price of these handsets.

No, it will not. All smartphones running MediaTek MT6589 support WCDMA 900/2100 band. Possibly, JiaYu will support the same CDMA 900/2100 or alternatively WCDMA 2100. I am not sure of this. But this is good for European market not Canada and USA.

Possibly, there is no support for GLONASS. I exactly don’t whether it’s is there in MTK6589.

Spec wise JiaYu G4 or Umi X2 are better than Canvas HD. But Canvas HD is more reliable as Micromax has more service centers across the country.

No it will not work on CDMA network. It’s a GSM device. Reliance GSM SIM will work. WCDMA is no where related to CDMA. It follows the UMTS standard for 3G GSM communication. The speed is also way high as compared to Reliance’s CDMA EvDO Rev A speed (all other CDMA services like MTS provide the same). Reliance CDMA can give you max speed of 3.1 Mbps whereas WCDMA UMTS HSPA+ can give you up to 42 Mbps speed.
Cheers Manidip, but let me clarify. The specs state – 3G : WCDMA 2100 MHz (I checked JiaYuofficial.com). My question remains: re: 3G, will it work on GSM or on CDMA? I currently use GSM and would prefer not to switch my current provider.
Yes, definitely it will work on quad band GSM and dual band WCDMA. Reliance GSM will be supported but CDMA will not. In GSM network it’s 3G or more precisely HSPA+ here. But in CDMA network all devices work on EvDo Rev A standard. So don’t worry if you are using Reliance GSM. JiaYu will support your existing SIM card. But if you are using CDMA you need to change it to GSM. Reliance support GSM.
