I told you guys that Micromax quad core smartphone will use MediaTek MT6589 SoC. The news is true and confirmed by Micromax. Not some of the specs of the upcoming handset are revealed. We have just gone through couple of specs and this matches exactly what I reported on January 4th. The only difference is upcoming device is not Canvas 3, it’s actually Micromax A116 Canvas HD. MediaTek MT6589 is inside this smartphone. The chip couples quad ARM Cortex A7 processors and PowerVR SGX544 GPU.
The SoC is built on 28 nm fabrication technology which is pretty impressive. In last few days we have gone through several rumors. Now it looks like all info were mere rumors. No Broadcomm SoC at least in upcoming Canvas series smartphone.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD sports 5 inch display with HD 720p resolution. This is very impressive in deed. Currently we are passing through plenty of full HD display smartphones. HTC Butterfly with full HD 5 inch display is coming soon in market at staggering Rs. 49k MRP. However, we need not worry about this as Micromax is settled down the price to Rs 15,000.
The phablet equips 1 GB RAM. Possibly the ROM size will be 4 GB once again. Micro SD is not any surprise so as 2100 mAh battery. One more thing in this regard, the SoC has support of HSPA. So we can expect at least 14.4 Mbps HSDPA speed instead of 7.2 Mbps HSDPA. Up link or HSUPA will remain the same at 5.76 Mbps. And the ambient light sensor that is missing in Canvas 2 will be there in Micromax A116 Canvas HD.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD exact release date is not confirmed. The pre-booking to start very soon. By the first week of February you can expect it in market.

Yah, something similar, 4-5 hrs max. MediaTek MT6589 is using Cortex A7 processors that consume lesser power as compared to Cortex A9 (forget about Cortex A15 , it’s a power-hog). Slight improvement might be there. But not too sure. It would have been better with 2500 mAh one.
