Lava Mobiles in working on a NVIDIA Tegra 4 based quad core smartphone. This handset will be lined up in XOLO series. As you already know NVIDIA Tegra 3 is arguably the fastest quad core chipset. It equips 4 ARM Cortex A15 cores and 72 GeForce GPU cores together. It’s 6 times faster than previous version of Tegra. Tegra 3 is was avoided just because of poor battery issue. Although there was a 5th power-saver core it was not too useful either.
However, NVIDIA is using the second generation battery saver core with 4 Cortex A15 cores and 72 GPU cores. Therefore, performance will be better for sure. Currently you will find HTC One X, One X+ and LG Optimus 4X HD running NVIDIA Tegra 3. Well, Tegra 4 based Lava XOLO is coming soon. According to TheMobileIndians by March it will be available in market.

Lava Working on NVIDIA Tegra 4 Based ‘XOLO’
Micromax, Karbonn and other manufacturers are working on MediaTek MT6589 based quad core beasts. It’s not the best quad core SoC. For low-cost handsets it’s best. Micromax Canvas 3 is coming soon equipped with MTK6589 chip. So do not expect XOLO quad core in affordable price. NVIDIA Tegra 4 is very new in market. It will increase the price of the handset for sure. No idea on specs as of new. Let’s see how Lava copes up with the situation.
