Swipe MTV Volt Price in India | Features & Specs

Swipe MTV Volt is the newest Android 4.1 JellyBean smartphone announced for the Indian market. It’s not exactly a smartphone, it’s a phablet with monster display. It sports 6 inch TFT LCD Capacitive touch screen with FWVGA resolution. Currently the market is expecting HD resolution in smartphones priced over Rs 10000. However, Swipe decides to opt for FWVGA. It’s using same hardware that was earlier spotted in Micromax A110 Canvas 2. Everything looks impressive apart from the price. Fueled by MediaTek MT6577 SoC the droid is equipped with 512 MB RAM. This MediaTek chip couples dual 1 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and PowerVR SGX531 GPU. Overall, performance of the phablet will be good enough to run some HD games in it.Yesterday Xolo A1000 was spotted with similar hardware.

Swipe MTV Volt flaunts 4 GB ROM with approx 1.5-2.0 GB free internal storage for user. Micro SD card slot is there for additional storage requirement. Li-Po 3200 mAh battery is used in this tablet that promises approx 6-8 hrs of talk time. As you can expect it’s a dual sim phablet. In connectivity front the phablet has HSDPA support speed up to 7.2 Mbps. For local area connectivity Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi and micro USB are there.

Disadvantages of Swipe MTV Volt

  • Pricey: At this price point you will get several alternatives with similar hardware. It flaunts huge 6 inch display. But that should not cost Rs 12000.
  • No HD Resolution: You must be looking for HD or at least qHD resolution when you are paying the amount.
  • Weighty: This is more like a tablet rather than a cell phone or smartphone. Up to 5 inch is quite enough for carry. But you may need a separate case for this one. It will definitely fail to go in to your pocket. The weight of the phablet is 239 gm
  • Low RAM: Dual core processor is enough when you have 1 GB RAM. Swipe MTV Volt comes with just 512 MB RAM. Karbonn S1 is packed with 1 GB RAM and quad core processor and coming in lesser price tag.

Alternatives of Swipe MTV Volt

In case you are looking for more than ~5 inch display you may consider the following smartphones-

Crazy deal with similar hardware will be Micromax A89 Ninja. It has the same MediaTek MT6577 SoC, 512 MB RAM. But display size is smaller and camera quality is poor. But Micromax A89 is available at just Rs 5899 at Infibeam. Retail price of Micromax A116 Canvas HD is unknown, but it’s the best alternative in this price segment.
