Xolo A500, the cheapest dual core smartphone is here. Till date Videocon A30 was the cheapest dual sim smartphone with dual core processor. Celkon A200 was the other model with less than 8k price tag. Now Xolo A500 is spotted with surprisingly low 7k price tag. This is really impressive. It comes with all the specs that you normally see in smartphones priced around 10k. The only difference is smaller 4 inch display. This is the standard display size. It does not feel awkward while holding it by one hand. Yes, I agree with you if you say bigger display means more entertainment. But if you ask me what is the most convenient display size I would say 4 inch to max 4.3 inch.
However, coming back to Xolo A500, it uses Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus with 1 GHz dual core Krait processor and at least Aderno 225 GPU. But the GPU mentioned by Flipkart is Aderno 203. I have seen contradictory information from two different sources. In Flipkart you can see Xolo X500 is using Aderno 203 GPU and 1 GHz dual core processor. From another source I can see application processor cores are Krait instead of ARM based Cortex. Price clearly suggests it’s Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play. Now if we consider if Flipkart is right and the device is using Aderno 203 GPU then it must be Cortex A5 based MSM8225 or MSM8625. It must not be Krait.
Xolo A500
One more thing in this regard, based on Aderno 203 GPU only two Snapdragon S4 SoC are there MSM8225 and MSM8625 that we already have seen in sub-Rs. 10,000 handsets in Karbonn A9+ and Karbonn A21 respectively. However, I will manage the actual information very soon. RAM is just 512 MB. You can play HD games in it. More RAM would have been ideal but in this price segment it looks compact. You can see the specs of Xolo A500 matches Karbonn A9+ with similar specs but higher price tag.
Xolo A500 sports 4 inch WVGA TFT LCD display and dual camera. Rear facing 5 MP camera comes with LED flash. Front facing VGA camera is useful for video calling. The droid is built on Android 4.0 ICS platform. Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery promises 8-9 hrs of talk tine and 310 hrs of standby time.
ROM size is 4 GB which means you will get approx 2 GB internal SD card storage and around 512 MB for app storage. This is quite enough for regular users. For storage expansion micro SD card slot is there. Xolo A500 supports high speed HSDPA connectiviy. Other standard connectivity options are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and micro USB port. Along with G-sensor, proximity sensor Xolo is supplying Ambient light sensor in this handset. This is really impressive. Micromax A110 Canvas 2 with higher price tag and bigger display lacks ambient light sensor. This ceratinly improves battery backup of A500.

I have heard that S4 is bad than mediatek & also the gpu is not as good……? Would like to hear from you manidip. Flipkart says it has only ambeint & proximity sensors. Flipkart now shows it as available. Its available on sulekha.com for 6499. 7k on mirchimart. Eagerly waiting for your reply…..
Actually MediaTek is better than Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play i.e. MSM8225, MSM8625 chips. Krait based Snapdragon S4 Plus is way better than MediaTek MT6577. For example US variants of Samsung Galaxy S3 devices use Snapdragon S4 Plus instead of Exynos Quad. Nokia Lumia 920, HTC 8X uses Snapdragon S4 Plus. International version of HTC One S (except India) run Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus. All these are extremely powerful and run Qualcomm S4 Plus chip. But as I said S4 Play is poor as this use ARM Cortex A5 cores instead of Krait based architecture. Actually, the hierarchy of Qualcomm S4 is Play -> Plus -> Pro -> Prime. Forget about Snapdragon S4 Pro or Prime. Plus is truly brilliant and still dominates the market.
G-sensor or accelerometer is definitely there along with proximity and ambient light. It’s a good handset in tight budget. Otherwise, wait for Xolo X500. Soon I will publish a post on Xolo X500 that is from Intel itself like Xolo X900.

It’s not true. Basically, high-end games need to be optimized for a particular GPU. If it’s not optimized properly you do not get actual graphics. Mainly three types of GPUs are used: ARM Mali, PowerVR SGX 5 series and Qualcomm’s Aderno. VideoCore IV is also another GPU used in Broadcomm SoCs.
Now its clear that it uses S4 play which is really bad than mediatek. Would have loved to buy X500 IF it had 4 inch screen. Certainly not buying A500 anymore…..will have to look for something else or settle for X500.

hi I am mahesh I hav just buyed my 1st android phone and it is xolo a 500 and ihav worries that it gets heated very faster and the battery also discharges do u hav any suggestions or any solutions to this and I buyed it on flipkart
i had recently purchased xolo A500 but the problem is the battery in the phone remmains only for 20 to 30 mins after charging it. wht u thnk d problem would be?
Completely discharge the battery and bring the meter down to 0. Then remove and re-insert the battery. Give it a full charge. Otherwise, the battery dried. You can also try with an external multi-charger.

If the problem persists get your device checked by the service center. Externally you can’t do anything, I guess so.
